THE MUSE
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ROX
Born in the mountains of Colorado, raised in the swamps of Virginia and educated in the desert of Arizona, Rox’s career has been as diverse as her upbringing. She’s done everything from web-casting rock’n’roll to black box theatre. Starting in 1993, she began learning her craft in community and regional theatres. In 1997, she began working her way up in a rock’n’roll company while attending college. Her major accomplishments include attaining dual degrees in Anthropology and Theatre Arts at Arizona State University while acting as Master Electrician at ASU’s Lyric Opera Theatre, graduating in 2003.
She held the position of Master Electrician/Resident LD at the Dodge Theatre (now Coamerica Theatre) in Phoenix from 2003-2006. She did the lighting design for several interactive, live webcasts at DeepRockDrive.com in Las Vegas in 2008. In 2012 to 2013, she served as Lighting Designer for several major festivals in the US Midwest for DSS, Inc based out of Lenexa Kansas. Rox moved to Minneapolis in 2015 where she worked as a project manager for corporate theatre and the local basketball team at Showcore until 2017. She then served as Director of Operations for Interstate Sound doing design, production management and operations management for the biggest festivals in the area. After the pandemic, she has worked with several large brands supporting their technical needs for domestic and international events. She moved to Western Washington in 2024 where she continues to work with large brands to produce scenic renderings, pre-production planning and onsite technical direction.
Rox believes that events are an important component of our society. They give us the opportunity to gather as a community, to share information and to develop synergy towards a shared cause. Event design is not just a matter of providing a stage and some lighting to reach an audience. Understanding style, balance, aesthetics , human emotion and a little bit of psychology are key. Her dual degrees in Anthropology and Theatre Arts give her important insight into these issues as she is able to look at a design challenge not only from an artistic point of view, but a human/cultural one as well. She always has your target audience in mind when considering the best way to convey your message or image.
Rox never walks into a production without some kind of plan for set up and execution of a design while maintaining the ability to adapt to whatever challenges may arise. As a result, her projects are on time, under budget and artistic successes.
